Mama of the Month: Jana Dunkley

Meet our wonderful February Mom of the Month, Jana Dunkley— a dedicated mom of three, former medical social worker, and Dunwoody regular who brings both heart and humor to our village.

Hometown: Roxboro, NC

Currently Living In: Chamblee, GA

Preferred Class Location: Dunwoody

Tell us about your family!

I’ve been married to James for almost 10 years! We’re both originally from North Carolina, but made stops in Boulder, CO and Austin, TX before calling Atlanta home. We have three amazing kids: Aiden (7) who loves basketball, Ivy (5) who loves tigers and Jude (20 months) who loves climbing on everything

Current or Previous Career:

I worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker until I had my third child and decided to take a career pause. I specialized in medical social work, including palliative care. Most recently, I worked in a primary care office helping older adults make decisions about their care through chronic and terminal illness.

Introvert or Extrovert?

Both! I love being cozy at home with a book, but I also enjoy getting out, meeting up with mom friends, and exploring new places.

Something that might surprise us:

I went on an all-expenses-paid trip to the Super Bowl in 2021 as a Healthcare Hero.

Favorite Exercise: Cherry pickers

Must-Have Baby/Kid Product: Tush Baby hip carrier

Favorite Food: Sushi

How did you find FIT4MOM?

A neighbor invited me to a class after having my first baby.

What do you love about FIT4MOM?

There are so many ways to work out—virtually, in-person stroller classes with babies and toddlers, classes with big kids, and mom-only classes. The workouts are great and really push me in a good way.

What does motherhood mean to you?

The chance to raise good humans.

A Few Words from Her Littles:

Ask your oldest: How old is mommy?

“41!” (Aiden got it right… Ivy thinks I’m 54 😂)

What’s something mommy always says?

“Time for dinner!”

What is mommy really good at?

Cleaning the house while we’re at school and making dinner.

What makes you proud of your mom?

“You help us with homework.”

We’re so grateful to have Jana as part of our FIT4MOM North Atlanta village. Her compassion, strength, and dedication to her family—and to showing up for herself—are exactly what this community is all about.
