Mama of the Month: Melissa Slatken

Our March Mama of the Month is Melissa Slatken! Melissa is one of our newer members who attends class most often in Dunwoody, but is such an integral part of our community already.

Melissa and her cutie, Miller, are such a wonderful part of Our Village. We asked Melissa a few fun questions - check out her answers below!

Tell us about your family: Eric and I met in New Orleans November 2013. We had a long distance relationship until I moved to NYC in August 2015. We were married November 11, 2017 and welcomed our son, Miller July 10, 2019. We moved to Atlanta last June. Eric is a CPA for hedge fund in NYC. We recently adopted a cat. His name is Remy.

Hometown: I was born in New Orleans, LA but lived in Mobile, AL since the age of 12.

Currently live in: Dunwoody, GA

Preferred Class Location: Perimeter because it's 2 miles away but I don't mind traveling to other locations.

Current/Previous Career: Registered Cardiac/Vascular Sonographer (17 years)

Introvert or Extrovert? Extrovert

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us: I'll be 43 this August!

Favorite exercise: HIIT. I didn't know how much I would love it until FIT4MOM.

Must-have baby product: Miller's learning tower. It's really bought me some free time to cook.

Favorite Food: Cheeseburgers

How did you find FIT4MOM? I liked a fit4mom post on another groups page and Amy slid into my DM's lol!

What do you love about FIT4MOM? Being new to Atlanta, during the pandemic, meeting other moms was difficult prior to joining. Having friendships with women who are in the same season is so important. FIT4MOM's village is an invaluable resource. Not to mention the challenging workouts that helped me get back to my pre-baby fitness level.

What does motherhood mean to you? Motherhood isn't always cuddles and kisses. Sometimes it gritty. But in those tough moments, that's where real growth is born. Miller has taught me so much already. Patience and letting go mainly. But mostly, motherhood is passing snacks and making meals that end up in the garbage.
